Biography

Fausto Corbo is an Italian-Swiss conductor.

His passion for music began in his early childhood, when he already had an outstanding talent for the piano, which led him to study in Italy at the “Niccolò Piccinni” Conservatory in Bari and then at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. Since 2001 he has devoted himself to conducting choirs and orchestras. His academic training took place in 2002 at the Musikhochschule Luzern under the direction of Alois Koch, where he graduated in 2005 with a degree in conducting with distinction.

Fausto Corbo

On the occasion of his final concert, he was honored as the best graduate by the Odd Fellows in Lucerne. Immediately thereafter, he was chosen to conduct the Luzerner Mädchenkantorei, a post that offered him the opportunity to work with important Swiss orchestras, including the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and the Collegium Musicum Luzern.

In 2008 he began his master’s degree as an orchestra conductor under Ralf Weikert, former general music director of the Zurich Opera House, which he completed in 2010 at the Lucerne Music University with distinction. His contacts with leading personalities such as Bernard Haitink, Karl Anton Rickenbacher, Donato Renzetti, Manfred Huss, Dejan Savic, Julius Kalmar and Uroš Lajovic (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna) contributed greatly to his artistic maturity.

His collaborations with orchestras from various European countries such as Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Bulgaria include especially those with the Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Orchestra Haydn of Bozen and Trento, Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Biel Symphony Orchestra -Solothurn, New Orchestra Basel, Haydn Sinfonietta Vienna, Philharmonic Orchestra Ruse, Philharmonic Orchestra Burgas and Regional Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta.

He was allowed to take on assistant tasks for Prof. Ralf Weikert and for the association “Opera Verona”, in the context of the productions of “Salome” by R. Strauss at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Italy, and the Cimarosa opera “Le astuzie femminili” in cooperation with the Kioi Hall in Tokyo. Together with the flautist Lello Narcisi he is the founder of the “International Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Switzerland” and is currently working as a freelancer in the concert field.

As an indirect student of the great Viennese school of Hans Swarowsky and thanks to the inspired teaching of Prof. Ralf Weikert – himself a student of the unforgettable Austrian conductor – he is valued for his conducting technique, his communicative qualities and for his meticulous work of score analysis.
